Federal Election 2011
Safe Kids Canada would like to remind our partners that the federal election is on May 2, 2011. The election is an opportunity for every Canadian to have a voice in creating their Government.
At Safe Kids Canada, we continue to focus our efforts with the federal government on the development of a national injury prevention strategy for Canada. Preventable injuries are the leading cause of death for Canadian children and youth, which currently does not receive resources commensurate with the burden it poses to the health care system and Canadian families.
In the Speech from the Throne delivered on March 3, 2010, then Governor General Michaëlle Jean read the following statement: “To prevent accidents that harm our children and youth, our Government will also work in partnership with non-governmental organizations to launch a national strategy on childhood injury prevention.”
No matter the outcome of the 2011 election, Safe Kids Canada looks forward to continuing to work with the Government of Canada to develop a national injury prevention strategy and continually improve the health and safety of Canadian children.
Don't forget! Election day is May 2, 2011.
