Programs

Safe Kids Canada programs address issues that cause serious injury or death to Canadian children and youth. Using the best evidence and data collected from Canada and around the world, Safe Kids Canada chooses program activities and strategies that are proven to be effective.

Kids That Click
Motor vehicle collisions kill more children than any other injury-related cause. The most effective way to protect children is to use an appropriate car or booster seat. Kids That Click resources include a popular car seat installation DVD and brochures written in simple language. These resources provide parents and caregivers with everything they need to know to keep kids safe from their first ride until they are ready for a seat belt.

Safe Crossing Month
Each year Safe Kids Canada supports rail safety programs in schools, libraries and community centres across Canada. Generously supported by CN, Safe Crossing Week encourages parents, educators and caregivers to educate children on how to cross railway tracks safely and raise awareness of the importance of railway safety.

Safe Kids Week
The largest annual national child injury prevention awareness campaign in the country is brought to Canadians by Safe Kids Canada with the generous support of Johnson & Johnson. To take part in the program, gain access to research, data, resources and activities sign up as a partner today

Walk This Way
Safe Kids Canada, with the generous support of FedEx Express Canada, has developed a comprehensive program aimed at reducing child pedestrian injuries, while encouraging people to engage in active living. The program offers grants to communities to develop pedestrian programs; holds an annual “Canada’s Favourite Crossing Guard” contest and supports photovoice projects in local schools.
