Tractor Ads

As part of the public awareness campaign, ads will be placed in a variety of locations to reach families in farm/rural communities. These locations include: community newspapers, commodity publications (e.g. Pork News, The Grower), industry publications (e.g. The Furrow/John Deere), and mainstream publications (e.g. Harrowsmith).

Samples of the ads include:

Events

The tractor ads will also be used to create displays that will be used at various events such as Canada's Outdoor Farm Show, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

Public Service Announcements
Two radio ads were developed as part of this campaign, one 30 seconds and one 60 seconds, with country music spokesperson Michael Peterson. These can be used by communities with their local media as well as with industry-specific broadcasts.

Hi, I'm Michael Peterson. Did you know that tractor accidents are the number one killer of children on the farm? These accidents can easily be prevented. Still it seems like part of the farming tradition is to get children up on the tractor, but in just seconds a child can fall off and be crushed by the tractor wheel or a pulled behind implement and don't be fooled by thinking that an enclosed cab is safe either. Even if they ask to ride, never let your child get on a tractor. Let's face it, it is easier to bury a tradition than a child. This message is brought to you by the Child Agricultural Safety Network.

North American Guidelines for Children's Agricultural Tasks (NAGCAT)

A redesigned resource will be made available to rural/farm families that can help them determine appropriate work assignments for their children aged 7 - 12. NAGCAT resources will be bound into a book for easy reference as well as remain available on our web site.
