Hate my Helmet, Love My Brain.

Do you love your brain? Personally I love my brain. I treat my brain well, by feeding it lots of “stimulating” information, like a copious amount of TV comedies (and the odd documentary.)
My brain does so much for me. It lets me think, feel, eat, breathe! It even let’s me loathe the thing that protects it best – a helmet. My brain knows that my skull is only one centimetre thick and my brain knows that a helmet is the best way to protect it when I fall (which happens a lot when you are hopelessly uncoordinated like me). Yet, my brain still lets me hate my helmet, even thought it knows that a helmet can reduce the risk of a head injury by 85 per cent and my brain still lets me despise my helmet because it gives me “helmet hair” and makes me feel really warm on summer days.
But when I add up all the things that my brain does for me, like let me take care of my family and laugh with my friends, I want to protect it. Because I want to keep laughing and sharing with the people I care about.
So I will enable my own selfishness and I will put on that helmet, because well, it really is all about me!
