With summer in full swing, so are the plans for all those barbeques, cottage and camping trips! Have you ever thought about taking some of those nifty planning skills to hold a  fundraising event in support of Safe Kids Canada? The event staff at SickKids Foundation – one of the primary supporters of Safe Kids Canada – are more than eager to help, and we invite you to put your event planning caps on (trust me, you all got ‘em)!

Not only is holding a fundraising event a great opportunity to be creative and try something new and exciting, it also is a fun way to get involved and support a great cause. Community support – such as third party events held through SickKids Foundation – helps Safe Kids Canada continue to provide essential information for families on how to keep our kids safe.

So, all set to start planning your event to support Safe Kids Canada? Here are a few steps to help get you started:Kids at lemon stand

  1. Big or small, start thinking about what kind of fundraising event you would like to hold. From lemonade stands to golf tournaments, out in the community or inside the office, the sky is the limit for your event. And to help get the brainstorming started, here is a page listing a bunch of ideas of what other people have done.
  2. Rally up as many friends, colleagues and family members to help you plan your event. The key to a successful event is proper planning, and the more enthusiastic people you have on board to help, the better your event will turn out (and the more fun everyone will have in the end!).
  3. Once you get your planning committee together, establish a fundraising goal and work out the details outlined in the event proposal form.

With the event proposal form submitted, a SickKids Foundation representative will get in touch with you and make sure you have everything you need to organize a successful

fundraising event – hopefully something that will become just as much of a tradition as those trips to the cottage.

Happy planning!
